The National Herbarium of Oman (ON) recently includes 1285 plant species including natives, endemic, near endemic and introduced species. By using World Flora Online (http://www.worldfloraonline.org) and Plants of the Middle East (http://www.plantsofthemiddleeast.com/) we update scientific names and the status of the species under IUCN as published in Patzelt, A, 2014.

Within the Natural History Museum and the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, the National Herbarium (ON) Formed in 1982 with a gift of 800 named specimens by the late John Maconochie. It has received the international recognition and the award of the acronym "ON“. AVAILABLE FOR STUDY specimens of most flowering plants of Oman collected since 1943. Plants specimens are preserved as dry and in a preserving liquid in a glass jar.
Poisonous Plants:
We eat many plants, herbs and so forth in our daily diet. But, we must remember to be choosy. Some plants, trees or shrubs are potential killers of man. Some part of the ornamental plants or flowers in your yard may contain deadly poison. Many poisonous plants are so common and seemingly innocuous you do not suspect their toxic qualities.
It is easy to be deceived by plants.. one part may be edible while another is poisonous.
